Additional bus services and extra Park and Ride options will be
on offer around Durham City later this month to help LUMIERE
festival goers enjoy a smoother ride.
To help as many people as possible enjoy
themselves without the worry of where to park the council is laying
on additional evening Park & Ride services for the duration of
the festival, this includes services running later into the night.

With so many extra people on the streets in the city centre
during LUMIERE, it's inevitable that there will be some disruption
to normal life.
If you are a local resident or a regular visitor to Durham,
you'll probably see lots of activity from 10 November onwards as
our technical and production teams begin to install the artworks
all over the city centre, and there will be some traffic diversions
after 7pm between 10 and 16 November.

We've had enough of keeping it under our hats and are delighted
to be able to tell you about the programme for LUMIERE 2011, a
city-wide nocturnal trail that will surprise, delight and stop
people in their tracks.
It will feature a fire garden in and around Durham Cathedral, an
equestrian snowdome in Market Square, Ove Arup's favourite bridge

With its commanding setting on a headland high above the River
Wear, Durham Cathedral is unmissable, and magnificent. And of
course this recent accolade is just another reason to visit Durham
for LUMIERE this November.
