The city streets can get very congested during the festival, particularly toward the Cathedral area. Whilst we're delighted LUMIERE is so popular we want everyone to enjoy the festival safely. Here are a few reminders of some top tips to help you be able to enjoy the artworks and the festival:
- The best time to visit Palace Green, the Cathedral, and College Gardens is after 8.45pm. There are many installations to see right across the city so if you'd like to avoid heavy congestion and peak periods visit the other areas of the city first. We would particularly advise wheelchair users, people with buggies, and people with limited mobility to come at quieter periods after 8.45pm.
- For the safety of you and those around you please follow the one-way system as you exit the Cathedral, down the South Bailey and across Prebends Bridge. This is a lovely riverside walk with further installations to see.
- Please follow the instructions of the stewards at all times. Your co-operation will help the smooth running of the festival during busy times.
- Leave your pets at home. The streets are extremely busy during the festival and they might get trodden on. They won't appreciate the art, no matter how cultured they are.
